Directions to Hill Crest
From the Harbour By Car
Leave the harbour and approach a large roundabout. Take the third exit - effectively turning right -
(a) and proceed along the sea front towards St Sampsons. On the way, will pass the following:- The Salerie Inn
(on the left with a big car park opposite) - The Fresh Food Store - again on the left - a set of traffic lights - continue
straight - a small roundabout with the Red Lion on the left - continue straight - an Indian take-away on the left called Basmati
- shortly after this shop is a left fork - note the speed limit of 25 mph - take this left and proceed until you reach traffic
lights - go straight and you will see a motor cycle shop on the left. Immediately after this is Hill Crest Cottage with
parking in the driveway - right, left or straight on.
From
the Airport By Car
Leave the airport and take a left
turn, following the curves of the road and passing The Deerhound (excellent bar meals) on your right. You will come
to a set of traffic lights. Go straight ahead past Le Chene Hotel on your right. Pass the Forest Road Garage on
your left. Keep straight on until you reach another set of traffic lights. Turn left and follow the curves again
until you reach another set of traffic lights. Go straight on and you will come to a small roundabout. Go straight
ahead - this is Ville au Roi. Keep on until another set of traffic lights and turn right. You will come to a strange
junction with a yellow grid - in Guernsey this means - Filter in Turn - literally one car from each direction has priority.
Turn left. You will come to another filter - turn right and continue straight, through three sets of traffic lights
(plus a final pedestrian traffic light) until you come to a large roundabout on the sea front. Turn left towards St
Sampsons and follow the directions from (a) above.
From
the Harbour by Bus
Walk towards the large roundabout
keeping to the footpath on the left. Cross the pedestrian crossing and turn left. Shortly, you will see two bus
stops. You need the first one. You need any bus that is going to the "Halfway" where you alight.
The buses are frequent until dark when they cease running. The tickets will cost £1 each. Once you reach
Hill Crest, you will get a free bus pass for the duration of your holiday.
(b) When you get out at the Halfway, turn left away from the sea. After about four hundred metres, you
will come to traffic lights. Continue straight and you will see the motor bike shop on the left. Hill Crest is
the very next cottage on the left.
From the Airport
by Bus
When you come out of the airport building,
you will see a bus shelter opposite. The best route is either Number 7 or 7A. Number 7 runs clockwise around the
island and 7A anti-clockwise. If you take a number 7, you can stay on the same bus until you reach the Halfway, after
which follow directions as in (b) above. The ticket will cost £1 whichever bus you take. If you take a 7A,
you may have to change buses in St Peter Port (Town) but the driver will tell you which bus to take and a copy of the Summer
2011 timetable is attached. Alight at the Halfway and follow directions from (b) above.
